Version 1, 28 October 2026. The app shows these terms, and asks you to agree to them, before it connects to a camera.
1. Who we are. Tiles is made and published by Toldwell LLC, 9056 136th St., Seminole, Florida 33776, USA ("Toldwell", "we"). Questions, complaints or claims: william@toldwell.com or +1 423 650 1231. These terms are between you and Toldwell. By tapping Agree, or by using Tiles, you accept them.
2. Open source. Tiles' own source code is licensed under the MIT licence, which is in Settings → About. That licence covers the code. These terms cover the app as Toldwell distributes it, through the App Store and TestFlight. The source comes with a NOTICE that passes Sony's conditions in section 4 on to anyone who builds it and uses it with a Sony camera. Notices for the third-party software in Tiles are in Settings → About.
3. Not made by the camera makers. Tiles is made by Toldwell, not Sony, Blackmagic Design or ARRI. None of them owns, licenses, made, endorses or supports Tiles. Support comes from Toldwell alone, at tiles.toldwell.com and william@toldwell.com. Sony, VENICE, BURANO, FX3, Blackmagic Design, PYXIS, URSA, ARRI, ALEXA and other names are trademarks of their owners. Tiles uses them only to say which cameras it works with.
4. Sony cameras. Sony's licence requires us to tell you, and you agree: once a Sony camera is used or controlled through Tiles, it will be out of Sony's manufacturer warranty, as Sony separately specifies for that camera. You may use Tiles with a Sony camera only to remotely control or use the camera in normal use. You agree not to use Tiles, or a Sony camera controlled with it, to design, develop, manufacture, customise, use, install, inspect or store weapons. These include guns of any kind (hunting and sport guns too) and their telescopic sights, tanks, battleships, submarines, fighter aircraft and attack helicopters, explosives, biological or chemical weapons, missiles, drones armed with offensive weapons, and anything made to guide or steer them. You also agree not to use them to transport explosives, chemical or biological weapons or other harmful items, or for military activities such as intelligence, surveillance or reconnaissance. Don't give, sell or pass Tiles on to anyone who intends any of these uses.
5. Check the camera. Tiles controls cameras over networks that drop out. It can show a setting the camera doesn't have, miss a command, fail to start or stop a recording, or change a setting you didn't mean to. Confirm on the camera anything that matters before and during a take. Don't rely on Tiles where a failure could hurt someone or damage property.
6. No warranty. Tiles is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.
7. Limits on our liability. To the fullest extent the law allows, Toldwell, its members and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost footage, recordings, data, takes, time, profits or business, or damaged equipment, however caused, even if we were told they were possible. Our total liability for anything to do with Tiles is limited to what you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50 if you paid nothing. You agree to defend and indemnify Toldwell against third-party claims arising from your use of Tiles, or of a camera through it, in breach of these terms or the law.
8. Changes. We may update these terms. The app will show you the new version, and ask you to agree again, before it connects to your cameras.
9. Law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The state and federal courts in Pinellas County, Florida have jurisdiction, unless the law where you live says otherwise. Nothing here limits our liability beyond what the law where you live permits.

11. Apple. If you got Tiles from Apple's App Store or TestFlight: these terms are between you and Toldwell only, not Apple, and Toldwell, not Apple, is solely responsible for Tiles and its content. Your licence is a non-transferable licence to use Tiles on Apple-branded products you own or control, as the Usage Rules in Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions allow (including Family Sharing). Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Tiles. If Tiles fails to conform to a warranty that applies, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund what you paid for it; to the maximum extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Tiles, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses from a failure to conform to a warranty are Toldwell's responsibility. Toldwell, not Apple, is responsible for any claims by you or anyone else about Tiles or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that it fails a legal or regulatory requirement, and consumer protection or privacy claims; and for investigating, defending, settling and discharging any claim that Tiles or your use of it infringes someone's intellectual property. You represent that you're not in a region subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated a "terrorist supporting" region, and not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. When you use Tiles you must comply with third parties' terms that apply, such as your camera's and your network's. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and once you accept them Apple may enforce them against you.
